It has been a crazy year for us in Rexburg, and this is the first opportunity we have had to get away from it all. To take advantage of the three weeks to play we decided to head to California and visit my family since there wouldn't be time to do that in November for Thanksgiving. So we set out on Monday and stopped in Pocatello for a few hours so that Justin could take the GRE. I have never seen that boy so happy to have completed a test. He was so nervous and just ready to have it over with, now we just have to wait on the results to see if we have a chance of graduate school next year. So it was around one o'clock that we were able to really be on the road to California. With very minimal stops we arrived around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning and went promptly to bed.
Tuesday was mostly spent getting cleaned up, lounging around relaxing, and eating Chipotle. Man, I love that place! :) We also took a trip to the mall with Mom and Alyssa to look for bathroom accessories for the bathroom they are just about done remodeling right now.
On Wednesday, Justin and I were able to go and eat at Panda Express since it was all but closed on Monday night while we were in Reno. He had his heart set on eating there so we had to fill his request. (And I think it tasted better for lunch rather than at ten o'clock at night.) We finished getting some of the school supplies he would need for Fall semester and took the rest of the day off relaxing with the fam.
Thursday we went shopping in Vacaville and were able to find some shoes Justin liked that were for a good deal, and we were also able to find a great pair of skinny jeans for myself (that are exactly like the ones that were ruined a few months ago!). It was a very happy shopping day for us! Later in the evening, we headed to downtown Fairfield and walked around the Farmer's Market and around downtown a bit.
Friday, Justin went to work with my Dad to help with with a big project he had going on. So Mom, Alyssa, and I went shopping. They had a shower curtain picked out at Bed Bath And Beyond so we went to go get it and it was sold out but had it in Vallejo. So we went to Home Goods and walked around to see if there was anything fun we could use there. We also browsed through Borders for any good finds since the store is closing. Once we got home Mom and I started on an organizational project she's been wanting to do. There is still a little more to work on it, but it was a good start to the project.
Today was a working around the house day. We helped dad chop and stack the wood palettes that have apparently sitting in the back yard for a few years now. We also re-stacked the current wood pile to make everything fit in its designated place and to look nicer. And we are all worn out just from that task alone, but we got it done! We got cleaned up and went and ate at our most favorite restaurant, El Azteca and then did a little shopping for bathroom accessories.
We have a few activities planned for next week, but I'll keep you posted on how those turn out. But we are loving the fact that we are here and don't have to worry about school, the GRE, managing apartments, or anything! So far it has been a Great Vacation!
